Bought this as a sample for PPE training at an Electrical Power Generating Station.
The Vector is an ANSI rated Z89.1-2009 Type II Hardhat approved for E&G usage. It appears to be a four point suspension version of the standard Bullard Hard Hat with a styrofoam liner. Because of the liner, I was not able to measure the thickness of the shell to determine if there was a difference between it and the Standard Hard Hat.
In comparison to the Standard Bullard Type I Hard Hat, the Vector is heavier, noticeably so. The Bullard is already on the heavy end of Hard Hats and adding a bit more weight gets it to the point where it starts to become burdensome. Additonally, the styrofoam liner insulates your head more and reduces air flow around your scalp makeing it seem much hotter. I wore it in the plant on a relatively mild day, and found my head sweating. The liner is not very sturdy and could easily be nicked or gouged by Items falling or being placed in the hard hat. Do not put safety eyeware, Flashlights or other hard items in the hat when it is being stored.
If your hazard analysis does not include a substantial risk of side impact, I would not consider buying these. The slight degree of extra protection does not equal the added discomfort for the ordinary industrial user. I would not recommend them for use in hot environments due to the increased risk of thermal illness.
If you must order these, I recommend a non-ratcheting type of suspension Harness, as those are lighter.
