Hardhats have a five-year life span from the day it's put into service. Visually inspect your hardhat every day for signs of wear. If it takes a hit it should be replaced. Constant sunlight will accelerate component breakdown, and the suspension should be replaced every twelve months.

        I've had my helmet for about 6 years now, and I know I should have replaced it by now but its sort have grown into a lucky charm. Its grazed high power lines, been hit by falling limbs, flying stump grinding chips and even saved me from a clumsy climber that dropted a chain saw in my direction, while we were both climbing. For one of the most deadliest jobs out there It's stood its test with me, I'm glad I've had it.

          Working with aerial lighting this thing is the best anyone. If I'm up in the air I can wear it coupled with a visor to provide good sun protection, or if I'm on the ground provide that great falling object protection you need, and the visor just functions great to help shield my eyes, so I often look through it if I'm looking towards the sun or a illuminated lamp.
