Comments about Etcon Arc-Fault Receptacle Tester & Tripper:
Great for general GFCI and AFCI but won't test the new 09 code combination type breakers.Be careful when pulling out of outlet so you won't pull it apart. Labeled picture instructions are hard to figure out. Good price isn't much help if it doesn't test the new breakers you will be seeing in future inspections.
Pros
- No of the these
Cons
- Unsafe
Best Uses
- Don't use it
Comments about Etcon Arc-Fault Receptacle Tester & Tripper:
This tester is NOT UL LISTED. It deosn't test the Arc Function of a ARC Fault Breaker it simply creates an Imbalance that trips the breaker.
It is not an ARC Fault Tester

Comments about Etcon Arc-Fault Receptacle Tester & Tripper:
On my current project it is my responsibility to have all residential units ready for inspection by the local county electrical inspectors office.During a previous inspection I saw that the inspector was using the Etcon Arc-Fault Receptacle Tester & Tripper. They were easily able to determine that one of the arc fault breakers was not working properly. The ease of use is what sold me. Now that I am able to test all Arc Faults with the same equipment the inspectors there have been no "surprises" during our inspections.

Comments about Etcon Arc-Fault Receptacle Tester & Tripper:
The first Tester I received was defective. It would not trip the AFCI breaker in my own house. I wasn't sure if it was because of the breaker type or the tester was defective. I learned that some Square D breakers will not be tripped by the tester, but to be sure, I ordered a new one and sure enough, it worked. So these testers might be sensitive to dropping them on the ground or UPS handling. Anyway, I would recommend the manufacturer build it more durable in the future due to the routine hazards of dropping these devices during usage.
