This tachometer worked well measuring open-drive compressors speeds. I attached a small square of reflective tape to the side of the sheave, restarted the compressor.
Unit worked well identifying two units that were running at speeds other than what the design documents said.
It would have been nice if the screeen had a light.

I have only used the item three times to determine RPM for some grain handling equiptment that needs to be speed monitored. I have found the tool easy to use, and seems to be accurate. I have not compared it to any other RPM meter to see how close they are but from what I have tested and calculated out from the name plate of the motor and the gear ratio it is very close. I have no regrets with this product and I would buy it again but hopefully it will last me through my life time to where I won't need another one.
