Comments about Extech Instruments Extech Pocket IR Thermometer with Laser Pointer:

Bought this item thinking it would save room in my bag of tools. Turns out it is not very accurate at all and you have to push 3 buttons to get the laser to come on.

Comments about Extech Instruments Extech Pocket IR Thermometer with Laser Pointer:

I ordered the Extech as I have an occasional need - and I enjoy gadgets. I nearly sent it back as it seemed the Laser was not working at all. Eventually got through to Tech Support and was told that in order to get the Laser to turn on you have to SIMULTANIOUSLY press the Laser button and the Power Button on the side. The Laser will then come on each time you press the power/read button that session.

I did say to the Tech that it did not say that in the instructions and he said - "Yes we get a lot of complaints about that"!

Comments about Extech Instruments Extech Pocket IR Thermometer with Laser Pointer:

Turning on the laser and keeping it on while measuring several objects is not straightforward. You have to keep punching the button until the laser comes on - inconvenient.

If I had it to do over again, I would get the gun.
