Comments about General Tools Mini Infrared Thermometer, D:S=1:1:
While this is convenient and accurate it didn't last long. It just died spontaneously, not dropped, not wet, nor exposed to extreme temperatures or pressure. The measurement range is only good for room temperature situations. I would still like another pocket mini IR thermometer just not this model. The soft rubber button material, in my experience, will deteriorate in a few years from finger contact, its also squishy and unsure feeling; I'd prefer it made of regular plastic and it wouldn't cost much more to do.

Comments about General Tools Mini Infrared Thermometer, D:S=1:1:
I do home energy assssments and carry a variety of themal measuring devices including a $10,000 thermal imaging camera. I also own a nice accurate spot radiometer about the size of a large deck of cards that I bought 15 years ago for $600.
This device doesn't replace the camera, but for the price of a few cups of cappocino, it matches the accuracy of the $600 unit, but would fit in a watch pocket--which is where I carry it as I go through the house.
A few pages of guidance to the user as to issues of emissivity and other concerns in using such a device would be useful. The lens appeture of this unit seems to be designed to copmpensate for emissivity problems at close range but I doubt that most users are aware of that feature.
