When using chemicals for ground water rehab.

This model is excellent. Using the pH 4 and pH 7 buffer, the sensitivity seems to be very good.

It will short out when using it in the rain.

I use 5 of these units to test pesticide spray solutions. All units are great, but one unit would not re-calibrate to pH 7. I had to return it.

I use the Checker to measure the ph of my urine and saliva rather than using ph paper tape. Given the Checker's readout in tens and hundreds place decimals, it is significantly more accurate than ph paper tape.I do a calibration check each day by using the 7.01 Solution. Often I don't have to make any adjustments. When I do make adjustments they are normally very small like going from 7.04 to 7.01. I give my Checker the proper care by filing the rubber cap with the storage solution when I'm not using it.Outside of using tape water to rinse the Checker probe, there are no other cleaning directions. Should there be?

This unit lacks automatic and manual temperature compensation. As with all scientific equipment, the user needs to understand the products limitations. If samples are between 20 and 25C, the pH errors due to impedence fall well within the accuracy range of the meter.

I bought this to quickly and easily test my pond water. After calibrating it using standard test solutions I find that it requires frequent re-calibration, almost prior to every use. It also seems to go through a set of batteries very quickly. Keeping the probe in storage solution does not help. The desire for speed and ease of use is negated by the calibration problems and I don't really trust the test results.

I like the small pencil-like electrode. It can get down into small bottles. Understand, I've used it only twice. For roughly 10 months of the year, it sits idle. It'll all depend on the storage solution and the calibrating liquids. The problem will be when my reading doesn't agree with that of the purchasing winery. Needless to say the winery reading will be accurate every time.
