Comments about Ideal Industries IDEAL® Suretest TrueRMS Circuit Analyzer:
I use the product daily for home inspections but have lost confidence in it. I purchased the 61-164 several years ago with a manufacturers lifetime warranty. Original tester was new and worked very well until complete failure after about a year. Manufacturer cheerfully replaced it but evidently with a reconditioned unit. It had a faulty function. They replaced it again and it also has a faulty function (all outlets show false ground). Suspect that warranty replacements are returned units that may not have been completely repaired/checked. Just to make this clear I am talking about the manufacturer, Ideal, not the retail vendor.
