I've used Lead Check Swabs before but have found a new product I like a lot better: D-Lead Paint Test Kit. A professional remodeler friend turned me on to this kit. It's easier and faster to use, you get your results in minutes -not hours- and it's EPA approved for all types of surfaces. Lead Check isn't.
I tried D-lead when it first came out, and there were a couple of times I wished there was a way to make sure my "negative" results were accurate... who wants to make a mistake when you're dealing with lead? Well, they now have verifying strips in the pack, so you can double check to make sure you really are lead free.
Testing for lead is a hassle no matter what test you use, but this was way easier than the swabs.

Product showed me I DID need to refinish my furniture for the safety of my pets. Lead paint was flaking off onto my patio floor. Yikes! It was pretty quick & easy to determine this, without having to send it away and wait for results in the mail. I still have a few sticks left and would use it again. Thanks.
