Overall very accurate when used properly. When measuring the height of a wall at a distance, I've found it best to start with it level, find a good reference point for your base, and then trianglulate your vertical. Laser pointer can be difficult to find on a sun lit wall. I've found it easier to point it at the ground in front of me and then follow it up to my point. Overall the learning curve was fairly minimal for my first laser tape.
