As a home inspector, I could check the microwave by putting a wet paper towel in and feeling if it got hot after 15 seconds but this product lights up and makes a nice "show" for the clients.

I bought a product called "Magic Lights" which looked the same. Correction… I bought two of them. When I used used one for the first time it got fried. The second one lasted for about 20 inspections. I just ordered 2 Microchecks.

After getting burned (pardon the pun) on an inspection where I checked off the Microwave as functional, I decided to look into protecting myself from this ever happening again. Microcheck is the perfect tool to check if a Microwave actually heats whats' in it or it just looks like it does. It also checks for leaks around the door casing. The best thing about the Microcheck is that it looks great when it lights up - very impressive when the realtors or their clients are watching.

This product is a great tool to quickly check a Microwave's operation. The only drawback is that I am not sure how much exposure is required to trigger the alert. This would be helpful in cases where it is suspected that a minor microwave voltage leak is occuring outside of the microwave. Overall though, it seems to work rather well.
