This voltage stick is one of the most important tools I own. I use it many times a day to detect voltage inside insulated wires. It also has a "blink" self-test feature which gives me confidence that it is working. The sensitivity is calibrated to allow it to pick up live voltage and induced voltage in ungrounded wires and devices, but will not pick up voltage from grounded devices. This makes it extremely easy to use to detect an "isolated hot" or ungrounded hardware. Like any voltage stick, it can give false negative readings on live wires in wet weather and should not be relied on under this circumstance.

This is an excellent tester which Fluke used to make, but no longer. I tried Flukes "upgraded" version and cannot trust it as it has given me too many false positives/negatives. This is the original, and the best and is very durable. I use mine daily in an industrial environment.

This product is great. I works as advertised and is one tool that anyone working with electricety should have and use at all times.

This is a rewrite form the Ultimate Circuit Tester review that I purchased along with this unit......I have used the older Santronics pen size tester for over 15 years and it never failed me. I gave it to my son-in-law when he was going to do some electrical work in his new home and I have not seen it since. So I bought this Ultimate model with the buzzer to replace it and I also bought this unit without the buzzer as a backup for when my other daughter when she gets her new house. My first Santronics tester has been used thousands of times and it is my first line of defense from getting shocked. Used in plant, home and electrical contractor environment without a hitch. Would be lost without it.
