I was hoping to use this when exploring old mines. I wanted something that could be turned on and left on, (carried in a pocket as a "gas alarm" while exploring).
This device is great for the normal purpose of sniffing for gas leaks, but when turned on, one must hold the button down while testing.

My husband and I thought for a long time we had a gas leak. After having the gas company come out and inform us that there were no leaks, we were still not satisfied that there was not a leak. After purchasing this product, we are now convinced and satisfied that we don't have a gas leak. We tested the product near gas and it did sound the warning so after taking it throughout our home where we thought there was a gas leak we were more than satisfied that this product really works.
