I was pleased to receive this product as quickly as I did. Unfortunately, there is no way to release the back door, so I had to set the trap from the front. I used it immediately to trap a kitten who wasn't heavy enough to set off my larger traps and caught the kitten pretty quickly.

Trap was used under the house. After finding a good spot for it the release was set and all I did was check it every afternoon by means of a flashlight. Rats are very cautious and it may take a few days for them to venture into a trap. Our little visitor took 6 days to capture. Once the door closed behind it I simply took the whole trap in to the woods about 10 miles from civilization, opened the back door, and let him go on his merry way.

I have issues with cottontail rabbits, grey squirrels and chipmunks. Rabbits eating garden vegetables, chipmunks digging in garden, and squirrels raiding bird feeders. Needed them relocated. This trap works well for all three critters, except I had to wire 1/2 inch wire mesh onto the trap to keep the chipmunks in after trapping them. Easy to bait trap and release critters using the release door. Fairly easy to bend catch hook to make trap more sensitive, but not yet a problem with even small chipmunks stealing bait from trap. I think the squirrels are learning, though, as they have seen their friends get trapped and relocated, and they are less likely to go in the trap. But overall, I am happy I got this trap and it is working well.

Had new 12X26 four season room addition put on my house. Builder left a space open were squirrels could get into ceiling area, which they did. Closing up the holes was only a temporary fix, squirrels came back with a vengeance and dug their way back in. Soon they dug holes through my drywall ceiling. Bought Safeguard trap and placed it on the fence squirrels ran. Ten squirrels and one posium later my squirrel problems are over.

I had squirels in the attic and needed for them to be removed. The traps worked just fine.

These traps, (I ordered 2) have saved many kittens and young cats. I work with Feral, Barn and Fearful Stray cats and the safeguard traps are the best. Thank you for having the Slide Release Door 24 X 7 X 8 size. The re-release makes transport and handling much easier.

Rats have no problem getting the bait without tripping the mechanism. Apparently the pressure plate is not sensitive enough for rats and there is no adjustment.

Squirrels were eating me out of house and home on the bird feeders. I counted 17 in my yard at one time. I didn't want to kill them but needed to thin out the population. The first day I caught 5 squirrels and brought them miles away and released them, the next day I caught 4. I still have more to catch but will get them and move them down the road. I highly recommend this product
