I now own 5 of these traps and with sunflower seeds as bait, the chipmonks can't resist. We have hundreds of these rodents that are a menace to gardening and bad for rock foundations etc. These work very well and the squirrls can't get in the trap.

I have gone through several live traps for chipmunks. Many are either too flimsy, too trigger-sensitive, or too big and allow squirrels and bigger animals to get in.
I was waiting to actually trap a chipmunk before writing anything. This morning I did.
1. The trap is sturdy and is not overly sensitive.
2. It's small enough that our squirrels don't even try to get in.
3. It's easy to release the chipmunk by opening the door without having to get your hand near the animal.
Overall, I give this top rating and feel like I've finally found a solid humane live traps that works for chipmunks. It would work for mice too, but we don't have a mouse problem.

I have 3 of these traps and they are easy to set, durable and portable. Simply add a scoop of peanut butter and wait. Make sure to check twice a day, because the rodent becomes very stressed. We have caught and released a bunch of chipmunks. I am buying 3 more today.

We were inundated with chipmunks. We had a larger trap which, of course, was ineffective. This Safeguard Humane Rodent Trap was simple to use. Merely, put some seed in a small cap,place in trap, set trip, place in location desired and believe me you will catch chipmunks. We have relocated about fifteen and look forward to catching more.

Difficult to adjust and not as effective as similar Havahart model 1025, purchased from Home Depot. Havahart trap is built well, have caught 9 chipmunks to one caught in the Safeguard trap, located in same area of the yard. Have adjusted Safeguard trap per directions but still not very effective. No return policy after opening package is not reasonable as you cannot determine operation of trap without opening.

The trap is simple, easy to use, and I caught the mouse in my kitchen the first night. The mouse was not harmed and I was able to relocate him. This mouse had previously chewed through a heavy plastic humane trap. Another so-called humane trap caught a mouse by the foot, though he ran away easily when released, so hopefully he didn't suffer too much damage. This trap is easy to adjust. I definitely recommend it.

It is quite effective at catching Sparrows however I didn't buy it for that purpose. I am trying to get rid of mice! I place the trap in the location I see the little buggers just before dark and in the morning I have caught a Sparrow. At least I get to let them go.

I give it 5 stars - it will work with mice. But Scabbers the Rat didn't fit - he's too big. So we got the next model bigger and that worked.

I bought this trap to get rid of the chipmonks around my house. The 1st day I put it out by my deck. Twenty minutes later I caught my first one. Put more peanut butter in it and the next morning I had another one. I don't put it out everyday. I have put it out 5 times and in the 3 weeks I've had it I've been able to get 5 chipmonks,which I relocate 10 miles from my house.This trap works great and the animals are never hurt in anyway.They sure love that peanut butter.
