Purchasing the SmartTool 48 Inch Smart Level is probably the smartest buy I have made for a long time. I'm currently using it on a do-it-yourself building project and it has turned out to be the most reliable "helper" I can find. Its digital display is easy to read, accurate, and eliminates the temptation to say "that's close enough". Whether I'm trying to plumb a corner post or level a header, precision is important to me. This makes it so easy to be accurate, it's almost like cheating. It has the option of using the audible beeper that lets me know when my work peice is perfectly positioned. This frees up my hands to nail it down without the need to constantly look back at a bubble to see if the peice has moved. This especially comes in handy when you are the sole member of a one man work crew. I highly recommend it.

Road project plans show side slopes as 2:1 (2' horizontal): 1' (vertical), 3:1, 3.5:1, etc. It would make it easier if the instrament would read in feet horizontal to feet vertical as well as inch vertical to feet horizontal so I would not have to convert the inches to feet.
