This Soil Moisture Meter is designed to be extremely easy to use, and its compact size makes it easily portable as well. The unit delivers readings almost instantly after being inserted into soil, reading on a range from 0 (bone dry) to 10 (saturated). An additional feature of the soil moisture meter is to check fertilizer leaching--simply calibrate the unit for center scale after the ground has been saturated.
The soil moisture meter comes with an informative “Soil Moisture Management Handbook." This handy reference guide provides you with detailed information of what the moisture meter results mean, so that you can be better understand the readings for different soil and plant types.

I have used this moisture meter for about 18 years and will soon replace it with a new one. The reason? I accidentally rolled my vehicle over it and although it still works, it no longer fits into the carrying case I use to carry it in. A yard long needs protection when I take it on a plane with me to work sites!
