I purchased this unit specifically to monitor ambient noise coming from an apartment building that has a very large problem with noisy residents. Currently in Los Angeles County, there are no limitation to noise in a multi unit dwelling and this poses a large problem to the "Peaceful co-habitation of residents". I am in the process of developing a base of "annoyance" with this product and so far it has performed very well at 18 hours a day continuous use. I do have issues with the instruction manual as it was written by apparently Chinese and then translated poorly into English. Some parts are not understandable at all. I would volunteer for a price to do this for them. Otherwise In my case B weighting is the main concern as it is more realistic to the problem at hand in a large city. Low frequency noise is usually overlooked as there is so much of it. "A" weighting in this case is not the same as what the human ear hears according to most "experts". "B" weighting is what causes apparently the most stress in an urban area under current obsevations.
I like the size of this unit, the buttons are large and easy to read. the backlight needs to have the abilty to make adjustment in time on, It does not at all. The data logger needs to be more easly kept on as I have not yet figured that out. I use a set of 3 cameras and a computer digital video recorder to monitor all the activity. So far so good at 30 days straight.
