The Handheld Digital Radiation Alert Detector is environmental testing equipment that measures alpha, beta, gamma and x-ray radiation. The air tester is specifically designed to recognize the smallest changes in radiation levels and features a high sensitivity to a wide range of common radionuclide. Ideal for environmental testing, the unit counts all ionizing events and immediately reveals the results on the LCD monitor. The device features the ability to display results in the unit of measurement of your choosing--easily adjust settings with the mode switch.

To detect radiation, the Handheld Digital Radiation Alert Detector uses a Geiger-Mueller tube. Each time radiation passes through this tube and causes ionization the tube will generate an electrical current pulse. Every time this occurs, each pulse is recognized and the detector keeps a record of this. Every count varies depending on the levels of radioactivity at the given time. To fully calculate and understand the radioactivity in the given space it is better to be analyzed over a period of time.
